Runsheet

  • 8:30 – Pre Race Safety Briefing 1 (inside the Pool)
  • 8:45 – Marshall swimmers outside to start the swim (2.4km swim first, 1.1km swim is last)
  • 8:55 – Pre Race Safety Briefing 2 (At the dock/pontoon)
  • 9:00 – Green Caps (36-45)
  • 9:02 – Black Caps (46-55) & Yellow Caps (56 & Over)
  • 9:04 – Purple Caps (Under 17), White Caps (18-25) & Red Caps (26-35)
  • 9:10 – Orange Caps (Short swim)

8:30 Pre Race Briefing 1 (Inside the Pool)

  • Legal Declaration: Please read at pre-race briefing.
    By registering in the Dawny’s Cockatoo Challenge and the Dawnyto Cockatoo Swim (“the event”), I hereby waiver, release and discharge any and all rights of claim of damage, physical or otherwise, against Balmain Water Polo Club and the Dawn Fraser Pool, Balmain, its servants, agents, state or councils and sponsors and representatives, of all liabilities, claims, damages, costs or expenses which I may have against them arising out of, or in any way connected with my participation in this event. I understand that I am competing in Sydney Harbour, it’s water and it’s sea life, and acknowledge the risks relating to open water swimming. 

    I acknowledge that I have sole responsibility for my personal possessions during the event and related activities.

    I hereby attest and verify that I am physically fit and have trained for this competition. I take responsibility for my personal safety in participating in this event and swimming in Sydney Harbour.

 

 

8:30 Pre Race Briefing 2 (At the dock/pontoon)

  • DON’T jump off walkway, only enter water from pontoon
  • If you have trouble raise hand and alert water safety
  • Be aware of tidal movement
  • Exit swim on Eastern side of pontoon
  • Leave caps on as you exit the ramp for time recorders
  • Anyone still swimming at 10:30 will be brought back due to Waterway
  • Long swim will leave first in 3 groups approx 1 min apart and swim anti-clockwise around island (aim toward the right side)
  • Straight to point (bypass buoy) on outbound leg but inside buoy on return
  • Short swim will leave in one group and swim clockwise around buoys, starting approx 3 minutes after the last group of the long swim
  • NOTE for long Swim-Ferries may come in, swim is timed to minimise this situation, but be alert and follow directions given by water safety
