Published Tue 12 Dec 2017

The final whistle blew this afternoon at the 2017/18 Under 16 State Championships and the black and gold flag was hoisted high !!!

Coached by Nathan Thomas, the Gold girls team convincingly downed the ACU Cronulla Sharks in the grand final  8-5 in a physical action packed game. Not only did the girls walk away with the gold medal and shield but also had Nioka Thomas and Maeve Ryan named in the tournament 7 and Evie Glover-Rylah named as the goalie MVP ! Yes State Championships !!!

The Black Girls team came an admirable 4th in the b Division. Coach Gen Longman was proud of her young team and they improved as the tournament went on.

Out at Bathurst, Bronwyn Smith's Gold Boys team had a terrific tournament toppling Big guns Sydney Uni in the rounds then just not making the distance against them in the semi. The boys met UNSW Wests in the play off for bronze - a tight fought match ending in a win after penalty shoot out. The team pocketed bronze and Daniel Munk named in the Tournament 7.

The Black Boys team, coached by Harry Sanderson ( assisted by Declan O'Connor) played a steady & consistent tournament. They went on to take out the bronze medal in the b division.

Well done to all the Tiger cubs, officials and zoo keepers.
